Contest Documentation and Help

Contestants use a restricted command-line interface to compile, test, and submit programs. Local participants are expected to use the terminals in MC 2037. Remote participants, by special arrangement, may use telnet, rlogin, or ssh to access the contest environment.

Available editors are xedit, vi, and jove.

Available programming languages are C, C++, Java, and Pascal.

You are allowed to bring notes and books. Print the contestant reference and bring it with you. Bring a book for the programming language and editor you plan to use. Books on algorithms and geometry may come in handy.

Using Scheme to solve contest problems. The contest environment uses mzscheme. But note that in the contest environment you will use the "sc" command to run Scheme; for example, the command

   sc A.s < inputfile > outputfile
will run the Scheme script in file A.s, using inputfile for standard input and outputfile for standard output. See contestant reference fore more information on the contest environment.

You are not allowed any electronic aids like calculators or the Web.
